Proper Use of Tags

In order to avoid offences contrary to the FWCA, hunters must be aware of the regulations surrounding hunting tags. Hunters must ensure that their tags are valid for the species and season they are hunting. They must also ensure that their tags are properly filled out with the correct information, including the hunter’s name, address, and the date of the hunt. Hunters must also make sure that their tags are attached to the game animal they have harvested. In addition to ensuring that their tags are valid and properly filled out, hunters must also be aware of the regulations surrounding the possession of and transportation of game animals. It is illegal to possess more than the legal limit of game animals or to possess illegally killed, injured or captured wildlife. Hunters must also ensure that they are not hunting on private property without permission to avoid being charged with trespassing for the purpose of hunting. Finally, hunters must ensure that they are not hunting in areas that are closed to hunting.
